Ethan Gutzeit

Ethan Gutzeit started his musical career at the age of twelve. He diligently practiced throughout high school being influenced by such notables as Vinnie Moore, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Richie Kotzen, Greg Howe, Paul Gilbert, Tony Macalpine, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck to name a few. After high school Ethan earned his Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Performance from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee Ethan studied with Bruce Bartlett, Mick Goodrick and Mark White and became interested in jazz. Some of his influences from these years are Frank Gambale, Allan Holdsworth, George Benson, Mike Stern, John Scofield, Wes Montgomery, Steve Khan and Wayne Krantz. After Berklee, Ethan earned his Master's Degree in Jazz Performance from SUNY Purchase where he studied with Steve Khan, John Abercrombie and Wayne Krantz. Ethan currently performs in the New York Metropolitan area with his own jazz and fusion projects. In addition, he is a contributing transcriber for Jazz Improv Magazine and a teacher.
